New product presentation by IAI at MOTEK fair 2010

With its newly developed rotary and gripper modules, leading Japanese linear axis manufacturer IAI has demonstrated its power of innovation once again. It continues to expand its RoboCylinder electric cylinder product line, first introduced in 1999.
Thus IAI remains true to the goal it has set itself - that of being the most innovative manufacturer of small robots - with the largest number of different versions worldwide.

The accuracy and output density of the new RCS2-RTC AC servo rotary axes open up a wide range of applications, particularly in combination with the rapid servo linear axes of IAI's same RCS2 series.
The new range of models consists of three sizes with widths of 85, 99 and 123 mm and hollow shafts of 30, 40 und 54 mm in diameter that allow flexible cable entry.

Particularly demanding applications, such as drawing silicon crystals in the semiconductor industry or precise grinding and polishing functions, call for an extremely high transmission speed in the angular second range.RCS2-RTC rotary axes are preordained for highly dynamic and precise positioning tasks, in particular due to their other benchmark data: a rotation stroke of ±9999 °; repeatability of ±0.005 °; a 1200 °/s max. speed of rotation; 25 Nm max. load moment, and a max. retention force of 800 N. In comparison to the RCP2-RTB/RTC DC pulse motor rotary axes, available since 2005, almost all the new RCS2-RTC models offer double the output density with a peak torque of 8.6 Nm, a higher torsional stiffness due to the stable frame construction, and an additional braking option.

With the RCP2-GRH electrical heavy-duty two-finger gripper, IAI has improved its electrical RCP2-GRS/GRM DC pulse motor through the addition of the most powerful version yet. It can be used universally in any industry, is suitable for pick & place applications with an IX SCARA robot from the same company, as well as for handling tasks, slide-mounted on a RCP2 series linear axis stepper motor. It can be employed specifically in environments where no compressed air supply is available.

The RCP2-GRH gripper, with a max. stroke of 40 mm, a repeatability of ±0.01 mm and a top speed of 100 mm/s achieves a closing time of 0.2 seconds. It has a maximum total clamping force of 200 N with a max. load moment of 20/34/78 Nm (Ma/Mb/Mc).

Stops: ca. 2500
